Irina Baysara

New York City, NY

Irina is a dedicated teacher of breathing techniques that you can take with you, whether it be on your way to work, taking a walk in the park or relaxing at home. You can also utilize them when you are washing dishes, cooking, cleaning the apartment, reading books, working on the computer, waiting in a doctor's office or on a flight at the airport.

As someone who believes in the power of motivated healing, Irina recognizes that people's everyday lives are stressful, hectic and chock full of work and obligations. By demonstrating how to connect the body to the breath, Irina shows you how you can develop the healthy habit of deep breathing to positively balance your mind and body. Irina strives to help you make restorative breathing techniques a way of life and demonstrates how these exercises can help you become more proactive in your physical and mental wellbeing.

Irina has started her journey of yoga and breathing practice with the very knowledgeable Tibetan teacher of Sivananda Yoga and Tibetan yoga from India who helped her heal her lungs. The Allergies and sinuses which were a constant hindrance for over 35 years stopped bothering her. Breathing exercises helped her restore her natural sleep patterns, cure depression, lose weight, and heal her neurological back pain. Then she turned to her family and friends, helping them become happy and healthy by teaching them breathing exercises. It was then that she finally realized that teaching breathing was her calling. Irina immersed herself in studying the different techniques of breathing, and her practice become her life style. After Irina completed her yoga training, she started on a yoga therapy journey with Prema Yoga Institute. With her love for Tibetan medicine, Irina studied Mindfulness and Loving Kindness Meditation, and Yoga Psychology training in Nalanda Institute. She attained a B-B-M training and become a teacher of that program.

She teaches private patients how they can reduce stress, fatigue, stiffness, depression, anxiety with the development of a routine of breathing practice. Irina was moved to see how a restorative regiment of breathing allowed her to help a friend suffering from alcoholism. Estranged from his family and depressed, he took solace in the temporary escape alcohol provided, only to have his health deteriorate. A regiment of fast and deep breathing over a period empowered him to become proactive in his healing. Now he listens to what his internal well-being calculator is saying and uses breathing and meditation to maintain a healthier mental and physical balance. He reconnected with his kids and enjoys now spending time with his grandchildren in the park and museums.

Ann Fleuchaus

New York City, NY

My name is Ann Fleuchaus and I have lived and worked in NYC for the past 25 years. I have been involved in teaching yoga and meditation as well as creating a private healing practice. Some of my certifications include: Touch for Health, NLP, Access Bars, Rising Star, Spinal Fluid Technique and EFT. I am grateful to these modalities for bringing such clarity and understanding into my life and practice and, yet my greatest sense of personal wholeness has come from the Breath Work with Drs. Brown and Gerbarg. The Breath Work is simple, practical and effective and is a great adjunct to any other activity one may participate in.

I have been honored to participate and assist them in their Breath, Body, and Mind Workshops for the past 6 years and look forward to teaching my own classes. So far, I have taught many individuals how to improve their quality of life through coherent breathing and I am now eager to share this experience with a larger audience. If you are interested in experiencing a gentle, easy and scientifically proven way to reduce stress and find balance in many areas of your life. Please contact me at:

Sheila Katz

Elmira, NY

I live in Elmira, New York. Elmira is an economically depressed community. Its educational system is struggling with many academic, social and emotional issues.

I am a Speech/Language Pathologist and Teacher of the Deaf and am presently in private practice. I retired as a Teacher and SLP after 35 years of service for GST BOCES. I consult with Chemung Early Intervention and provide therapy to children 3-5 years of age. For those students needing breath support and improved attention, I have used breathing techniques, so they may become better communicators. I also service Developmentally Delayed Adults through The ARC of Chemung. Breathing techniques have helped on reducing rate of speech, increasing volume of speech and improving ability to attend to task.

For the past four years I have been part of a team of health care professionals and educators in Chemung County, New York that have worked on bringing Drs. Brown and Gerbarg Breath-Body-Mind techniques into our community. We are working on making a sustainable program through the Chemung County Positive Breath Pilot. As part of the pilot program I have taught students ages 4-11 at the Southside Community Center afterschool program. Students have been active learners of “ha” breath, various movements, coherent breathing and relaxation techniques. We have incorporated movements to popular songs as a teaching tool. It has motivated the students to move. The students are eager to volunteer to teach and lead their peers in the program, under our direction. We have provided training for staff from the Department of Social Services, who are under tremendous stress due to the intensive services they provide for children and adults in our community. We have also worked with staff and students involved with the YWCA afterschool program.

Breathe-Body-Mind techniques have personally helped me deal with my own health issues. I was diagnosed with lupus over 25 years ago and often feel fatigued and not able to think clearly. Breathing has reduced my stress level, improved my ability to focus, helped me sleep better, and helps to energize me. I can truly feel the changes in my body and mind with the techniques taught by Drs. Brown and Gerbarg.

Whitefish, MT

I work as a psychiatrist, with children, adolescents and adults. I have been eager to learn ways to decrease anxiety, distraction, fear without using more medication.

I learned about Dr. Brown and Dr. Gerbarg's work and attended the workshop on "The Resilient Child".

What a gift this work is! Not only did I learn techniques to enhance my work with children and adults, I began to learn how powerfully the work was impacting me. The way in which Dr. Brown and Dr. Gerbarg have distilled complex multidisciplinary theory with science and powerful practices in a way that is amazing, accessible, engaging, and no short of life changing!

This work impacts my life daily and changed the way I think about healing, and being on the earth. It is powerful, and a privilege to work with Drs’ Brown and Gerbarg.

Cindy T. Brewer, LMSW BOCES campus

Elmira NY

I work with children with severe social/emotional issues in the Elmira Psychiatric Center – Southern Tier Day Treatment Program, under the Broad Horizons Program. All the children have Individual Education Plans and require the most restrictive school setting to meet their needs. The structured 6:1:1 classroom consists of 6 children, 1 Teacher, 1 Teaching assistant and an EPC therapist. Their mental health needs are provided through this program with individual therapy 1x/per week (more as needed), group therapy 1x per day for 30 minutes each day 5x/per week. Medication education and monitoring per the Psychiatrist and RN as needed as well as scheduled appointment every 3 months. Contact with parents/guardians daily via phone, email, daily behavior sheets and family meetings 1x per month or as needed.

The population I currently work with are 7th and 8th graders ranging from 13-15 years old. I have 1 female and 5 males this school calendar (2017-18). The kids have symptoms of anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, mood disorders, etc. I introduced Breath, Body and Mind with this group in October – December 2017. I began by explaining the techniques and practicing how to breathe in their chairs. They all have yoga mats and weighted “stars” they lay on their bellies while doing Coherent breathing and Breath moving to the chimes. We begin by doing the Body Balance exercise to modern music such as “Can’t stop this feeling” by Justin Timberlake, Ha breath, the first 2 Golden Wheels and 4-4-6-2 Coherent Breathing. We do the exercises 2 x per week for approximately 12 – 15 minutes at 9:00 a.m. After the breathing exercises, the kids process their thoughts, feelings, distractions, comfortability, etc. They also fill out a brief evaluation form.

The goal of the program is to keep kids in the community and their homes. They are often one step from being hospitalized or referred to a residential treatment facility. The goal of teaching Positive breath is the same. It is to give them tools that they can incorporate in their daily lives to help them relax and decrease their symptoms of anxiety, so they can function at home, school and within the community.

I work for a Community Action agency that has a Head Start Program. Our program has 21 classrooms and serves 351 of the neediest 3-5 year olds in our county. For the past 8 years I have worked in the Disabilities and Mental Health Component. I am always searching for new ways to help little ones with special needs succeed in every aspect of their life. With Breath Body Mind I am hoping to assist these children with new tools to calm, focus and gain some peace in their lives.

My goal is to work with not only the children in our program but the staff as well. In the coming New Year my goal is to work out a pilot program for Breath Body Mind. I will teach the practices to a handful of staff and work with them in their classroom to bring Breath Body Mind to the children. My hope is that Breath Body Mind will grow to our entire program. Practicing Breath Body Mind will be beneficial to children and staff in the classroom and their personal lives.

Jill Greenbaum, Ed.D

Airmont, NY

Learning, change, and personal transformation are a part of everything I do. Breath work is the most recent addition to my ongoing exploration and training in the healing arts. My primary areas of interest and expertise are working with parents around parenting issues, their ever-evolving roles, and emerging adults during the college search process and their adjustment to college.

I delight in developing workshops that include breath work, Emotional Freedom Techniques/Tapping, and Zentangle. These sessions are tailored for specific audiences, from children to adults, in both public and private settings.

Over time, I’ve become an alchemist, continuously discovering new ways of helping people be their best selves. This path first led me to the world of academia, where I became a teacher for students with special education needs in New York City, then a principal and administrator. My bachelor’s and master’s degrees in child psychology and special education, respectively, and doctorate in curriculum development from Teachers College, Columbia University, formed the foundation of this work. I have had my own instructional design and coaching firm for over 20 years. In addition, I am a graduate of CoachU and Martin Seligman’s Authentic Happiness Coaching Program. I am also an AAMET accredited and certified EFT practitioner, using healing energy tools for navigating past many of the turbulent waters in our lives.

I work with clients across the world through Zoom and Skype. Learn more about my work and feel free to contact me for a complimentary consultation at www.tappingwithjill.com.

Certified Trainer, Infinite Possibilities
Public School Teacher
Enrico Fermi School 17

158 Orchard Street, Rochester, New York

I am a sixth-grade teacher at an inner city public school. Many of my students experience trauma in their lives, some daily. Most do not know how to release this trauma induced stress which then results in behavioral issues in the classroom and prevents all students from experiencing a safe learning environment. I explicitly teach students the Breath, Body and Mind techniques which we use daily in class. Students are reluctant at first, but soon join little by little. Impacts of having BBM tools at their disposal have been positive. The amount of inappropriate behavior exhibited by students has been reduced. Students feel empowered to control their inner turmoil, those feelings that had controlled them in the past. Students share these techniques with family members as well. My stress levels are significantly reduced and I get to move, breath and meditate in the middle of our hectic day as well! I am also a certified trainer of “Infinite Possibilities,” a program which helps individuals see their great potential through visualizations, positive affirmations and meditation. We use this in the classroom to boost individual and group self-esteem as well as to formulate imaginative goals and create plans to achieve these.

Coordinated Care Services, Inc. (CCSI)

CCSI provides training and implementation support on topics designed to help organizations understand, implement and sustain practices aimed at improving the way care is provided. Our training team members have experience working directly in clinical or program settings, so they combine deep content knowledge in their particular areas of expertise, with a solid appreciation for the challenges associated with learning and implementing new ways of delivering services in "real world" settings. In addition, in partnership with our Quality Improvement Team, CCSI can also offer practical ways for organizations to assess the impact of their training investment on care quality and outcomes.

I provide training and consultation to programs and agencies on trauma and integrating trauma informed practices into service delivery. As a part of that work, I provide self-care workshops for staff which has included teachers, other school staff, mental health providers, and human services providers. I have introduced B-B-M techniques into the workshops providing psychoeducation about stress and vicarious trauma and how coherent breathing can be used a daily practice to support resilience and wellness. B-B-M techniques have also been taught directly to youth enrolled in programs. I also maintain a private practice working with children, adolescents and young adults, and have teach clients B-B-M techniques to cope with anxiety, depression and trauma.

Zitta Zohar, BS, MS, DMA

205 West 57th Street, New York City, New York

As a professional musician, having worked in mentoring some sterling talents, I came to the inescapable conclusion that in many cases, failing in a concert situation is rarely due to lack of preparation, but rather to the withholding of the breath as a result of anxiety and habit. The performance suffers, but it can also become a fertile ground for injuries.

Working with coherent breathing is beneficial on many levels: new awareness, ability to be present for longer periods of time and a new clarity of artistic vision.
