Samuel Stratton Veteran’s Administration Medical Center
NP with 25 years of experience in primary care and 6 years in palliative care. I run a specialty clinic in palliative care for those who are seriously or terminally ill with assorted illnesses to include cancer, diseases of the lung, heart, kidney, liver, neuromuscular system and others. The primary clinic focus is to provide symptom management, emotional support and assist veterans with determining their goals of care. I teach End of Life Nursing Education and am a content expert on training providers regarding Life Sustaining Treatment and how to have Goals of Care Conversations with the seriously ill person. My practice is open only to enrolled veterans with a serious illness.
I will be utilizing BBM for one on one sessions for those palliative care patients experiencing anxiety and pain associated not only with their illness but the comorbidities that may make dealing with their illness difficult, such as PTSD. I will form a group session dependent on interest. I will soon join the chronic pain management team in presenting the BBM practices every 6 weeks as part of the pain school curriculum.
