Breath-Body-Mind and Special Yoga are collaborating to support mental health and emotional resilience in children and young people in mainstream education during these challenging times.

This BBM-SY Introductory program is open to educators, pediatric professionals, mental health practitioners, parents and yoga teachers who support children.

As care-givers, we often underestimate the impact and importance of our state of being for the children and young people around us. We tend to focus on trying to make everything right for the children, often creating an anxious state in ourselves and unintentionally transmitting our stress to them. In contrast, when we are calm and regulated, we create an unspoken communication circle of safety and care, wherein restorative co-regulation can occur. Positive co-regulation is essential for children to thrive and development self-regulation.

In this 12-hour introductory training, you will learn breathing and movement techniques that balance and strengthen the stress response system. Proven to improve calmness, stress resilience, self-regulation, mood, energy, connectedness to one’s inner self and others, relationships, and empathic abilities, these methods also enhance performance at work and school. Other benefits include increased lung capacity, oxygenation, endurance, and cardio- respiratory health.

These benefits have been enjoyed by thousands of adults and children worldwide, including healthcare practitioners, yoga teachers, first responders, refugees, at-risk children, and individuals with stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADD, cancer, and other medical conditions. Many of them say they have been transformed, and that they never would have imagined something so simple could be so powerful and helpful.

These practices help children calm down, self-regulate emotions, improve mental focus and learning in school, and reduce anxiety about taking tests, performing in recitals or competitions, or just manage chaos in their lives. For children who have experienced trauma, these techniques enable them to feel safer, less fearful, freer to laugh, play, sleep, connect with their own feelings, and relate to others.

LEARNING OUTCOME

You will learn how to use simple breathing and movement techniques which balance and strengthen the stress response system helping children to calm down, self-regulate their emotions, improve their ability to focus and learn in school, and relieve anxiety. This program also fulfills the pre-requisite for BBM-SY Teacher Training Level-1.
