Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 am -5 pm & Sunday, Sept. 13, 10 am - 2 pm EDT
Join Dr. Richard P. Brown, Dr. Patricia Gerbarg, and their assistants for a 2-day Breath-Body-Mind Intro Workshop live, online, by Zoom. Learn evidence-based self-healing movement, breathing, and attention training to balance the stress response system, relieve anxiety, sleep better, stay calmer, increase energy and alertness, reduce frustration and anger, improve your relationships, and enhance awareness of yourself and others. BBM programs have helped thousands of people with everyday stress as well as adults and children who have survived disasters in the US and other countries.
Richard P. Brown, MD, is an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He volunteers his time teaching advanced breath techniques and meditation to help stressed and traumatized people regain energy, good sleep and peace of mind as well as detoxify their bodies and regain harmony in their lives. This work integrates mind-body-spirit techniques from the yoga and martial arts Dr. Brown teaches. Dr. Brown feels that "To be able to transform so many peoples' lives in a short workshop has been a special blessing for me. I especially enjoy helping 9/11 responders, the military, and veterans recover their lives."
Dr. Brown has taught workshops in Rwanda, in Europe with Middle Eastern refugees, and on a US Marine base, as well as for the Army’s 10th Mountain Division, the unit which was deployed the most to Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, Breath-Body-Mind techniques are being used to help at-risk and refugee children in the US and other countries.
Research has shown that extraordinary breathing techniques, like those taught by Dr. Brown, effectively relieve stress and improve energy, mental focus, heart and lung function and endurance. The benefits have been demonstrated in healthcare practitioners, individuals with psychiatric and medical conditions, and victims of terrorism, war and natural disasters. Many people who have worked with Dr. Brown say they have been transformed, and that they never would have imagined that something so simple would have been so powerful and helpful.
