This 40-hour course is for participants who want to enhance their personal Breath-Body-Mind™ (BBM) practice, and develop the skills to safely and effectively instruct BBM practices with clients and small groups.

Prerequisite: Completion of an 18-hour Breath-Body-Mind Fundamentals Course
This 40-hour level one BBM Instructor training is suitable for healthcare professionals, coaches, practitioners, therapists, yoga and meditation teachers, schoolteachers, military, first responders, EMTs, police, firefighters, disaster relief workers, and service organizations.
The benefits of Breath-Body-Mind™ have been shown to increase resilience and reduce the effects of stress in surveys of participating health care practitioners, individuals with mental health and medical conditions, children, veterans, active-duty military, and survivors of disasters.
About the training:
In this first of the three-level BBM teacher training sequence, you learn to teach the core BBM techniques to individuals for stress, coping with COVID, anxiety disorders, PTSD, military trauma, post-disaster, depression, ADHD, and stress-related medical conditions. Specific methods taught in this program include:
Self-Hug and Squeeze – Upper Body
Tapping
Basic Ha Breath
Heart (Love) Ha Breath
4-2-4-2 and 4-4-6-2 Breath
Coherent Breath with movement
4-4 Arm Circles
4-4 Painting the Waterfall
4-4 Energy Ball
Sequence leading into and out of Coherent Breathing
2 Deep Sighing Breaths
Muscle Softening (Relaxation) Body Scan
Voice-led Coherent Breathing
Coherent Breathing with a pacing track
Breath Moving in the First Circuit
Basic Bottom-up Body Scan
Participants will also be introduced to:
Trauma sensitive BBM teaching skills
BBM for Children
Precautions in teaching individuals with psychiatric and medical conditions
Ways to integrate breath practices with coaching, therapy and a range of wellbeing methodologies.
Increase your understanding of neurophysiological effects of voluntarily regulated breathing practices on emotion regulation, bonding, and cognitive function. Practice teaching while BBM teachers observe and offer suggestions for improvement. Attention is given to creating a safe container, tone of voice, pacing, the accuracy of instruction, and trauma sensitivity.
On successful completion of Level-1 Instructor Training, you will acquire the skills to:
Teach the core BBM practices to individuals
Assist in teaching BBM Introductory Courses
Conduct follow-up BBM small group practice sessions
Offer guidance to beginners in these techniques of self-regulation.
Help develop programs in your communities and workplaces.
Participants who complete all sessions and who demonstrate competence in teaching BBM core techniques will receive Breath-Body-Mind Level-1 Instructor Certification. Those who are not able to demonstrate competence by the end of this training will receive a provisional certificate and be encouraged to attend additional weekly practice sessions to complete certification.
Preparing for your BBM Instructor Training Course
A regular personal practice of Coherent Breathing (20 minutes per day, 5–7 days per week).
Attend regular BBM group practice sessions.
